“I myself am more of a piano guy. Because when you’re playing the keyboard, it doesn’t matter how hard you hit the notes. And that sucks.”

Man, what a great phrase! It isn’t mine, though. A guy I recently met gave me this pearl of wisdom. When I first heard it, I was impressed by the precision of his words—”it doesn’t matter how hard you hit.” Huh. So, machines don’t care about details? You’re right, they don’t. No matter how sensitive or rough you are, if you’re playing by equations, you aren’t open to the unexpected.

I think it’s a matter of choice. I’m not saying I dislike keyboards; I’m a lifelong fan of The Strokes, for God’s sake. But in life, I think I sometimes relied too much on my ability to mechanize the shit out of my notes.

I’m tired—not sick, just tired—of making predictable notes. I’m no longer interested in plans that I’ve seen before. To have a life that goes according to plan is like putting yourself in the front row of a movie whose script was leaked years ago. Oh my, I just realized I’m almost 19. Well. Fuck.

This post is short. I don’t have a lot to say about pianos, haha. I’ve never played one. I’ve actually never learned any instrument. Maybe I am too afraid of missing my marks. 😉
